Why are stainless steel pipes mostly thin-walled?

Dec 14, 2020

When buying stainless steel pipe, some users think that the wall thickness of the pipe can determine the quality of the pipe, and the thicker the pipe wall, the higher the quality of the stainless steel pipe. In fact, this view is wrong. The quality of stainless steel water pipes has nothing to do with the wall thickness. In general use scenarios, even for thin-walled stainless steel pipes, the material strength is far enough, so there is no need to worry about the situation of stainless steel pipes bursting.

Whether the stainless steel water pipe works well or not depends on whether it leaks or rusts, which is directly related to the materials used, connection methods, water pipe materials and construction technologies. Therefore, stainless steel water pipes are not as thick as possible. On the contrary, too thick pipes will only cause waste of materials, construction and other costs.

Now 304 stainless steel water pipes are generally thin-walled, and the compressive strength of stainless steel water pipes is very high. They are food stainless steel pipes without bursting, heat resistance and aging resistance, corrosion resistance and scaling resistance.
